Course outline:
Module A: Reading & Writing
Reading:
- skimming and scanning
- guessing contextual meanings
- identifying reference words
- understanding rubrics
- predicting the content from the title of text
- understanding the questions in the task
- locating relevant information
Writing:
- recognizing different types of business correspondence and their formats
- recognizing the structure of various types of business letters
- writing short business correspondence
- making enquiries, requests, suggestions, recommendations clearly and concisely
- writing resumes and job application letters
Module B: Listening & Speaking
Listening:
- filling in and making changes to timetables, schedules and simple business forms
- understanding voice mail messages
- taking simple phone messages
- understanding descriptions of figures & percentages
- understanding descriptions about locations
Speaking:
- making simple requests
- understanding and giving spoken instructions
- responding to telephone calls
- giving clear directions and locations
- giving clear instructions on the use of office equipment
Course Duration
The Integrated course (Module A and Module B) contains 60-hours training, respectively 30 hours for each module.
Admission Requirements
Completion of Form three or an equivalent qualification
Assessment Approaches
Course-End Assessment Pass Mark: 50% and Attendance: 75%
Award
A certificate will be granted to those who have attended 75% and successfully passed the internal exam (Module A and Module B).
